Why is my Seniors/MyWay Card not working?
Having trouble using your Seniors / MyWay card on public transport?
MyWay cards remain active for two years from the date of the last ‘transaction’ (a ‘transaction’ could be either travel, recharge or when the card has been originally activated). If you have not used your card for two years it will become inactive (or expire). Once a card has expired, it cannot be reactivated and you will need to apply for a new card through COTA ACT, ACT public libraries or ACCESS Canberra Service Centre’s. Concession entitlements and stored value on a registered MyWay Card may be transferred where the registered card is replaced.
To ensure your MyWay card is looked after, the following are recommended:
- Do keep it separate from other cards such as credit cards and building access cards
- Do not expose the card to heat
- Do not bend the card
- Do not punch holes in the card
If your ACT Seniors/MyWay card is no longer valid you will not be able to apply for a Gold Senior Opal card for travel in NSW.
