Do you need simple legal advice?
Council on the Ageing (COTA) ACT have partnered with Legal Aid ACT to offer seniors FREE – in person, one-on-one legal advice. The advice provided is general and on a range of legal matters ranging from:
- tenancy disputes
- Domestic Violence Order matters
- mental health
- elder abuse, and
- other general advice
Call to make an appointment and let COTA ACT staff know what issue you would like to discuss with the lawyer. Also let staff know if you require a half hour or 45 minute appointment.
Be aware that there are a number of issues that Legal Aid are unable to assist with including Wills, administration of estates including advice on matters outside of the ACT, advice in regards to commercial or property transactions, or companies in liquidation.
Appointments are held at COTA ACT, Hughes Community Centre, 2 Wisdom Street, Hughes between 1 – 3pm each Wednesday. You can make an appointment by phoning COTA ACT on 6282 3777.
